BATIK : RECOLOURING TRADITION
An exhibition in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia
London Craft Week 2026
12 - 17 MAY
For London Craft Week 2026, Lisa King presented Batik: Recolouring Tradition, an immersive exhibition bringing together monumental textile artworks, rare archival batiks and new works created using natural dyes and traditional wax-resist techniques. Inspired by King’s Indonesian heritage and decades-long engagement with textiles, the exhibition examined how one of the world’s oldest craft traditions can be reimagined for contemporary art and interior spaces. The exhibition was featured in London Craft Week’s highlights in House & Garden, The Times, Elle Decoration and Glassette.
